Who is Mrs. Dorothy, anyway?
 Tell Me more!

What is this Mrs. Dorothy & Her Traveling Shaky
Egg Band?  Mrs. Dorothy is Dorothy LeBlanc of Baton
Rouge, LA, a 50-year-old mommy turned musician.
The children and seniors who attend her interactive
performances (or who listen to her CDs) magically
morph into her Shaky Egg Band through the
playfulness of percussion!  Though she received her
formal training at Louisiana State University, she
will tell you that her career in music evolved outside
of the traditional classroom!

Her early musical influences were very
eclectic…ranging from folk to bluegrass to
traditional country to big band to rock and roll.  She
herself did not make it to center stage as a musician
until her own children were grown, her husband had
retired, and she had successfully tackled a pesky
run-in with breast cancer.  Suddenly, Dorothy felt
that this was her time to get out there and express
herself as a musician…and express herself she has!

She currently works as a
perfomer/singer/songwriter, and has built a very
diverse musical career.  She serves as the music
teacher at 7 early learning centers in the Baton
Rouge, Louisiana, area!  In 2006, Mrs. Dorothy
expanded her business to include performances at
seniors' centers and Alzheimer facilities.  Her
program is lovingly called "Sentimental Journeys"
and each performance is filled with tunes that these
seniors knew and loved when they were younger.

In her debut children's album, “Bluegrass??
Everyone NOSE grass is Green!”, she tackle
d such
weighty issues as loose teeth, the ‘gimmes’,
cleanliness, and acceptance of people with
differences,
with a bluegrass flair!  Her follow-up
project feature
d 2 other musical genres, rock and
blues, and
was released in spring of 2008!
"Rockin Those Blues Away" introduced her fill-in-the-
blanks game, as well as tunes that teach your phone
number, days of the week, how to become a recycling
magician, and
much, much more!  Whereas both
projects have a totally different feel, each
addresses issues that every child can relate to,
while they are having fun and learning!

Mrs. Dorothy is very involved in the
singer/songwriter community in the Baton Rouge, LA,
area, as she learns to write for adults as well as
children.
You are currently listening to a song she
wrote after the passing of both her mother and her
father, called "I Carry".

She also performs as one-half of the acoustic duo,
The Buskers.  Her duo partner is Mike Whitney, who
played dobro on
both of her children's albums.  They
boast a playlist that includes folk and blues, rock and
bluegrass, original and traditional tunes...all done
acoustically!

And where do
es she get her swirling, twirling
bandana skirts?  Why,
she makes them myself!  You
